Field Trip and School Pictures

Today was, officially, our second day of school. So, of course, we took a field trip. To the Arboretum. It was fun! The Arboretum is a large patch of land that is used as a museum of living trees. It also has a butterfly garden, various ponds, a rose garden (that's my favorite!) and a small building with a gift shop and an area you can rent to have parties in.
My mom and I went there last Sunday to pick some lavender we had requested on Freecycle, that a care taker had told us we could come cut.
We had seen the Arboretum before, but never been, and my Mom and I found the place lovely. She and I were both pleased to learn from the care taker, Bob, that the Arboretum has backpacks they let you borrow with enough things in each take ten children around and learn about all the different trees and plants on the grounds. Mom suggested we come back sometime that week to take a little science field trip, as it would be a fun way to usher in the new school year. So, we went today. :)

Since we normally do pictures of all of us kids at the beginning of each school year, my parents figured this would be the perfect place for this year's.

After getting pictures done, we got a backpack and started going around to each post, learning about the different trees from our information in the backpack. I think we only got through one post, being as the boys were itching to explore, but it was fun anyway. :)

After visiting the Arboretum, we went to Pizza Hut and used a few of our new Book-It coupons...

then went home to take naps. :)

You have a beautiful family! Just lovely. I loved seeing all the photos. Perhaps you would consider letting me post your photo on the http://feelinfeminine.com/ in the feminine and modest archives for people to see? :)

And, I was happy to see your post about Palin too. Sigh... everyone is seeing stars. One guy even went as far as to call her an "Esther" and I just rolled my eyes. :(

Your family pictures are so cute! You seem to be blessed with a wonderful family. Linus sounds a lot like my little brother Josiah!
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I enjoyed looking over your blog and can't wait to try out the pizza recipe. I'll be back! God bless!
